Stryjo breaks the scheme of a jazz trio and employs democracy and interaction in place of leadership and comping. Performing the compositions of the pianist they go beyond the typical building blocks of trio idiom with a linear storytelling. Most musicians today break the convention by playing free, but Stryjo has a different kind of invention going on. Lyrical and enthralling, their joint narrative tells about their musical respect for each other, being at the same time persuasive, inspiring and welcoming to the audience.
"Stryjo" means "Uncle" in polish.
Nikola Kołodziejczyk - piano
Maciej Szczyciński - bass
